College Readiness

The Share for Life Foundation (Share 4 Life or S4L) in partnership with The Jacob Riis Settlement, is proud to announce the successful conclusion of its College Readiness Program hosted in the NYCHA Queensbridge Houses community center. The program, which ran from March through June, has made a significant impact on local youth by providing them with essential tools and resources for higher education and career readiness.

 

Over the course of four months, the program delivered a comprehensive curriculum, mentorship, and valuable support to prepare these students for their next chapter in life. 

Workshops included college essay writing, admissions strategies, financial aid navigation, time management, and social integration tactics. The class concluded with a “Career Fair” in which each student chose a profession to research, created an education and skills outline, and presented a poster board on their findings to the class.

The success of Share 4 Life’s College Readiness Program would not have been possible without the dedication of our partners, volunteers, and the engagement of the participants. Share 4 Life looks forward to the opportunity to continue our partnership with The Jacob Riis Settlement and build on the program’s success in the future.
