Share 4 Life Partners with Rise Light & Power for 5-Week Food Insecurity Program
Program provides over 2,000 grocery packages for families in Queens housing developments
The Share for Life Foundation’s (Share 4 Life or S4L) recently concluded a 5-week Food Insecurity Program sponsored by Rise Light & Power, taking place between May and July at NYCHA Queensbridge, Ravenswood, Astoria, and Woodside housing developments.The Food Insecurity Program is designed to address the heightened food insecurity in New York City exacerbated by the global COVID-19 pandemic and its aftermath. Share 4 Life coordinated with the NYCHA Resident Association presidents and Boards to distribute the bags of groceries to the community residents.
This program was funded by our community partner, Rise Light & Power. Through this sponsorship, we delivered 2,000 grocery bags with an estimated 12,000 total beneficiaries. Each grocery bag was packed with a variety of fruits, vegetables, canned goods, cereal, rice, and other staples, to support a family of 4-6 people.
